As festival season is quickly approaching, the team here at CivitasNow is in preparation to bring our interactive media campaign, TweetAndGoSeek, to the finest festivals in the country. While “greenwashing” continues to be a growing trend, we appreciate the potential to partner with companies and organizations that sincerely place sustainability at the core of their mission. One festival in particular goes above and beyond placing recycling bins throughout their event; rather they embody environmental responsibility into their tradition as a whole.

Outside Lands Festival is an inspirational hub for sustainable patrons and vendors alike. Perfectly situated in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Outside Lands music-food-wine-beer-art festival was powered by EcoLands for the fourth year in 2012. EcoLands sets the bar high for other eco-centric festivals with a 100% alternatively powered stage, urban gardening workshops, local community organizations, national NGO’s, a farmer’s market, delicious and nutritious locally sourced food vendors from the Bay Area, two refillable water stations and “TRAShed” recycling store.

As if all these features are not enough to make any environmentalist drool, Outside Lands also offers incentives for traveling to the park sustainably with the Levi’s® Mobile Bike Shop. Cyclists can enjoy bike valet parking, tune-ups, and even a wash while their ride is securely stored during the festival. Oh, and not to mention- it’s all included with the price of admission.

Amazingly enough, these are only a portion of the unique eco-friendly offerings at this festival. It is safe to say Outside Lands Festival makes sustainability sexy, while simultaneously sponsoring an authentic and positive impact on the environment, similar to the efforts of CivitasNow. We look forward to seeing what Outside Lands has in store for August 2013.
