Jacklyn, simply put, is a delight to be around. Joining us from Miami University, she recently became a leader of the new and FIRST EVER advertising club on campus. Her sense of discovery is gravitational. I'm excited to have Jacklyn team up with the already all-star cast that surrounds her everyday.
1. Where do you attend college and what is your major?
I am an incoming senior at Miami University and studying Marketing, as well as minoring in 2D Media Studies with a focus in Photography.
2. Where do you call home?
3. Why on Earth are you working with CivitasNow?
I have been following their amazing work since I first heard of them about a year ago and had always thought they would be a fun and innovative place to work. Then throughout my internship search I realized I wanted an agency that allowed me to learn as much as possible through getting my hands dirty and having a real impact on the projects. The team and environment at CivitasNow seem to encompass exactly that.
4. Why are you interested in advertising and outdoor marketing?
To me, advertising is the best of both worlds when it comes to someone who enjoys being creative but also likes to get things done. In this field, you really get to see ideas come to life on a larger scale. Personally, I am always attracted to things that stand out from the ordinary and outdoor marketing itself is a unique subset of advertising where there are several opportunities to innovate.
5. If you were given a free full-page ad in the newspaper and had to sell yourself in six words or less, how would the ad read?
“Will work for concert tickets.”
6. What two weapons would you bring to a zombie apocalypse?
Weapon 1: A body double, perhaps a projection of myself used to distract the zombies (according to my vast zombie knowledge, they are not very smart creatures)
Weapon 2: The banjo Woody Harrelson used in the grocery store scene of Zombieland
7. What movie character do you think you are and why?
Anything played by Kristen Wiig. My childhood dream of being on SNL started with Tina and Amy but Kristen really brought it to life through her several skit personas. Once she hit the big screen it really turned into me just fawning over her ability to bring the perfect amount of “awkward yet charming” and brilliantly funny to every one of her roles.
8. What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given and who gave it to you?
My mom gives me advice every chance she can but the one piece that has stuck with me is “to always be myself no matter what other people think.” As I’ve grown up I have realized that this little piece of advice she instilled in me has led me to be able to speak my mind and follow my different passions without letting the opinions of others influence my judgement. I feel this applies perfectly into my creative thought process as it allows me to think outside the box and not limit my ideas to the constraints of the “status quo”. And isn’t the purpose of impactful advertising to come up with something completely new and different?
9. What do you hope to accomplish alongside us?
My number one goal is to learn as much as I can from the amazing team here, but if I get the chance to see something I was part of crafting come to life that would be the cherry on top!
